A matryoshka doll, or babushka doll, is a Russian nesting doll which is a set of dolls of decreasing sizes placed one inside the other. the first doll set was carved in 1890 by Vasily Zvyozdochkin from a design by Sergey Malyutin, who was a folk crafts painter in the Abramtsevo estate of the Russian industrialist and patron of arts Savva Mamontov. The word "matryoshka" (матрёшка), literally "Big matron", is a diminutive form of the Russian female first name "Matryona.
and now the matryoshka is not about wood carved doll, she's became a craft icon surrounding owl, red riding hood, mushroom etc. now she's became a paper craft, a doll, a card set, a bag, a purse, a lotta lotta lotta goodies that looks more cute with this babushka girl :) see what i found:

and lately my local crafter friend just get Matryoshka fever,haha... i already make a pattern for another plushie but I'm not able to make it until my crafty debt is paid :) comin here my crafty spirit :)

saya pernah baca ttg boneka Matryoskha dari buku cerita anak. Menarik dan imajinatif sekali :). Klo aslinya yg bentuk patung kayu, kesannya klasik ya.. tp klo di tangan crafter jd cute dan eyecathing :D
